Worried about where to put your blush? Check out what Leigh Whitehead, our head makeup artist has to say about it!
If you are worried about where to put your blush, quit it! Read our simple tips below to learn more.
First of all, there is no one right way to do it! The days of the Chanel "stripe" have come and gone and paved the way for all different styles of blush application. However, many makeup artists suggest these simple rules.
For long face shapes, apply blush on the apples and blend out towards the temples. This will draw your eyes outward making your face a bit wider.
For oval faces, apply blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend with a blush brush.
To slim a round face, apply your blush in an angular motion blending from the apples of the cheeks towards the temples. This technique gives you a more sculpted "high" cheek bone.
For square faces with a stronger jawline, apply your blush in a linear motion a few inches from the sides of your nose. This lifted effect will narrow your face and highlight your eyes.
Most importantly when you load your blush brush tap the excess off so as to not get a large deposit of color in one place. Blend, blend, blend.
Blush is meant to be a subtle accent and not overpower the rest of your makeup. So there you have it! Some simple tips that we hope will take the question out of blush application.
