We have had so many requests to do professional headshots for students about to graduate college that I thought I would take a moment and tell you why you should be booking a headshot if you are in your senior year.
1) Linked IN: So many people have linked in accounts, and many recruiters and companies will use LinkedIn as a sourcing tool to help them find employees. If companies are looking for you, and your LinkedIn Image is something that is old, not professional or just not up to par, they might not view your profile. I have seen so many profile pictures that look unprofessional, and even in my studios; we wouldn't even give you a look if you were not portraying yourself well.
2) Resumes and Google Profiles: You know that little image that comes up when you get an email form someone that has a Google email? That image is picked up and sent out with many of your resumes that you are sending out from your personal accounts. That means that the profile picture you have there is going to your potential employer. What do you want that image to say about you? You’re probably want the person receiving it on the other side to think that you are well put together and professional. This is so important and so many people miss this tiny little detail. Trust me though, your email recipient is looking!
3) Job fairs and Business Cards: If you have ever been to a job fair, you know that it must be really tough for the people representing the hiring company to remember anyone or keep track of anyone. Some of my clients have come to me to have headshots produced for "business cards" that they attach to their resume with their basic information on it, links to any professional profiles or pages they have set up and a picture of themself so that the people they talk to can put a name and a face together. What a great idea for a clever use of your headshot and to leave a lasting impression!
4) All Social Media: No matter how much you think your social media accounts are on lock down from other people (set to private), many times companies can search you and at the very least come up with your profile picture. So, be sure to take that sorority rush picture down and have something up that looks the part of the jobs you are applying for.
We hope these tips help you and that you now see why so many graduating college students are getting professional headshots taken and for what uses! We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in our studio soon!
