For the past few weeks we have worked with a small company that is creating organic crib sheets and pillows for sale on Amazon. They came to us with a need for very specific shots of their product. We helped guide them in the best practices for Amazon sellers and gave them the shots they would need to stand out. Amazon has a very specific schematic that they use for their sellers. The main image MUST be on 255 white, and all additional images should be 70-80% product focused. They like images that are square sized to 3000x3000 and the maximum number of images a seller can have is nine. Because Amazon has so many sellers, we recommend looking up your product category and taking a neutral look at what your product looks like next to the competitors. If you were judging based on nothing else, just product images, which product would you choose to click on?
We have found from working with Amazon Sellers that when it comes to product images, very few buyers click through all the images. That means that the first few images you have need to be the best you can make them. We always recommend highlighting what makes your product different from your competitors in the second (and sometimes the main) image, so that you can set yourself apart very quickly. But, that main image needs to be something that will grab attention and get the initial click.
Below are some examples of how we worked with our client to help them get the clicks they needed on their newest Amazon Product Launch.
